Past 3 months was intense for the Obscreen Player. The new generation of the player is now available across a wider range of platforms, making deployment easier and more consistent across different environments.
- **📺 New Player Platforms in Production**
The new Obscreen Player is now live on the **Google Play Store**, **Amazon Fire Store**, **Linux**, **macOS**, and **Windows**.
This expansion makes it easier to deploy Obscreen on consumer devices, professional screens, desktop environments, and lightweight media players, while keeping a consistent experience across platforms.
- **🚧 More Platforms Ready for Validation**
The next player platforms **Tizen**, **LG webOS**, and the **Apple Store** are already completed and currently awaiting final adjustments and validation before release.
These upcoming platforms will further extend Obscreen’s compatibility with smart TVs and Apple devices.
## Studio
On the Studio side, version **2026.5.1** focuses on improving daily content management, simplifying workflows, and giving users more control over what is displayed on their screens.
- **✨ UI & UX Improvements**
Release **2026.5.1** introduces several interface improvements to make content creation and configuration smoother, especially on:
- the **Plugins** page,
- the **Add Content** popup,
- content creation and management flows.
These updates make the interface clearer and more comfortable to use, especially when managing multiple content types or configuring screens regularly.
- **📄 PDF Import**
A new **PDF content type** is now available in Studio.
Users can now import a PDF, select the pages they want to display, and automatically split them into multiple image-based contents. This makes it much easier to reuse existing documents such as menus, schedules, brochures, internal notices, or presentations.
- **🔇 Per-Video Mute Control**
Videos can now be muted individually, offering more precise audio control.
Previously, mute settings were managed at the full playlist level. With this update, users can now decide exactly which videos should play with or without sound, directly within their content setup.
- **🎮 Player Controls**
Player controls have been improved for manual playlist navigation.
To keep the display clean and distraction-free, these controls automatically hide after **5 minutes of inactivity**, ensuring they remain useful when needed without interfering with the on-screen experience.

Invoice management has been simplified.
Invoices are now available in the same place as licence and cloud instance information, making it easier for users to find all billing and subscription-related details from one central location.

New landing pages have been added to better present Obscreen’s capabilities, including:

- sector-specific use cases,
- clearer product discovery for different types of customers.
